YAMOrchestra is the musical accompaniment to our student-written, directed, constructed, choreographed, and composed fall theatre production at ETHS. Each January, Mr. Bufis interviews candidates for the YAMOrchestra student governing board and selects the student leaders for this production. The YAMOrchestra then meets with Mr. Bufis weekly to learn how to use the Sibelius music composition software and learn the basics of orchestration, as well as determine the instrumentation for the fall YAMOrchestra. In May, the YAMOrchestra student governing board holds open auditions for all current band and orchestra members, as well as incoming freshmen, for positions in the fall YAMOrchestra. Once the orchestra is set, the student governing board begins weekly meetings on Tuesday mornings throughout the summer to script, compose, choreograph, design, and build the fall production in preparation for rehearsals. These rehearsals begin during the week before school and conclude with the opening production in early October. YAMO runs for seven shows across three weekends in October and is consistently presented to a sold-out crowd. For more information on YAMO, visit the ETHS Theatre website or see Mr. Bufis, , Ms. Nichol, Mr. Herbert, or Mr. Carney.
